Almost a year after the world was haunted by the image of the three-year-old Syrian boy Alan Kurdi who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea, another image of a young boy has captured the horror of the ongoing war in Syria.
Five-year-old Omran Daqneesh was rescued from the rubble of a building that fell down following an airstrike in the rebel-held neighborhood of Qaterji.
He was taken immediately to an ambulance where he was seen sitting, dazed and confused.
The image of the stunned and weary-
looking boy, sitting in an ambulance caked with dust and with blood on his face, captured the horror that has beset the war-torn northern city as photographs of the child were widely shared on social media.
An hour after his rescue, the
badly damaged building, the boy was in, completely collapsed.
The boy suffered head wounds but no brain injury, and was later discharged. Rescue workers and journalists arrived shortly after the strike and described pulling victims from the rubble.
A CNN television anchor, airing a report on the boy, turned emotional as she started to talk about him.
Kate Bolduan started by saying
"According to activists, this, is Omran " and her voice started to break. She took a long pause, trying to compose herself before she starts narrating the story of the little boy.
As she talked about his family, the report showed visuals of the boy as her voice kept trembling while she tried to hold back tears.
"He was with his mom and dad, his brother and his sister. Their home is in Aleppo, Syria. It was hit by a bomb, in an airstrike," she continued, elaborating on the details of how the boy was found.
The report then cuts to a video of the boy being fished out from the rubble and being transferred to the ambulance.
"Omran is left inside the ambulance alone, bloodied as rescuers go back into the rubble looking for anyone else who may have survived,"
she continued after the video.
She concludes the report by saying that what frightens her is that there are tears in the newsroom but not on the boy.
"He doesn't cry once. That little boy is in total shock. he is stunned. Inside his home one moment and the next, lost in the fury of war and chaos.
At least three people were killed by this
bomb in this neighbourhood. This is Omran. He's alive. We wanted you to know," she concluded as she broke down completely.

The 29-year-old reality star and 28-year-old model revealed in a Facebook Live Q&A on Wednesday that they're waiting to tie the knot until after the
baby is born so Blac Chyna can "turn up" at the wedding.
"If it was up to Rob, literally, we would go tomorrow," the model said. "He wants to go there, but I'm like, 'We need to do it the traditional way.'"
"We would have been at the courthouse downtown a long, long time ago," Kardashian agreed. "[But] of course every woman deserves to have a beautiful wedding not when they're
pregnant ... So we'll wait for the wedding."
"I want to turn up after. I want to turn up on my honeymoon and I want to turn up on you," Blac Chyna explained.
"But I think next year, to kind of give you guys an idea. It's not going to be this year. I kind of want to get my body back."
Kardashian and Blac Chyna, who is already mom to son King with Tyga, got engaged in April.
The couple announced they're expecting their first child the next month, and teased more babies to come in the interview.
"Rob wants me to have, like, four more or something like that," Blac Chyna said. "[Or] three more, so four total. Plus King, that's five."
Kardashian and Blac Chyna appeared to be on good terms following the first trailer for their E! series "Rob & Chyna."
The promo sees Blac Chyna blow up at the reality star and demand to know if he is texting other woman.
If the phrase 'It's not what you know, it's who you know' has any truth in it, then Sofia Richie is set to be one of the more successful young stars - has been revealed as Justin Bieber's new love interest.
One star who has fewer followers - or rather, no followers at all now - is Justin Bieber, who deleted his Instagram account this week after getting abuse from fans online on pictures of
himself with Sofia.
He got embroiled in an argument with ex- girlfriend Selena Gomez, after she allegedly posted: "If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol - it should be special between you two only. Don't be mad
at your fans. They love you."
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has traced the source of the $40million paid to Roberts Azibaola, who is former President
Goodluck Jonathan's cousin, to a bank in London.
The cash was wired through Citibank N. A. Canada Square Canary in Wharf London E 145 LB into the account of One Plus Holdings Nigeria Limited of
About $6million of the money was paid to a bureau de change in Abuja.
Azibaola, who was yet to make any refund, has been relocated from Lagos to Abuja in preparation for his trial.
Charges have been filed against the ex-President's cousin at a Federal High Court in Abuja. No date has been fixed for his arraignment.
According to a document obtained by our correspondent, the $40million came from the account of the Special Services Office of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the
"The Special Services Office has a joint account with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and some security agencies, which was managed by ONSA.
"The $40million was wired into the account of Azibaola's company through Citibank N. A. Canada Square Canary in Wharf London E 145 LB.
"The money was transferred to One Plus Holdings Nigeria Limited with Robert Azibaola and Stella Azibaola as directors.
All disbursements went to individuals and companies including two foreign
firms and the wife of the ex-President's cousin.
About $5.5million has been allegedly transferred to Mrs. Azibaola.
"The $40mmillion was in respect of a contract for the supply of Tactical Communication Kits for Special Forces. No records of contract executed.
"We wrote to the Office of the SGF and the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Office (PSSO) said: "The SGF office is not in possession of any document or evidence of contract.
"Even the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) said it had no records of the contract but it only made available payment advice to transfer
the funds to the Azibaola's account.
A source close to the investigation said: "We have to release the outcome of investigations to show that the EFCC is not engaging in any witch-hunt against the cousin of the ex-President.
"Although the contract was for the supply of Tactical Communication kits, when we interrogated the cousin of the ex-President, he said 'they had a discussion with the ex-NSA, Col.
Sambo Dasuki (rtd), to secure pipelines in the Niger Delta but there is no evidence to show for it.
"If there was any contract, how come $6million was remitted into the account of a bureau de change? None of the suspects was able to explain the reason for this.
Responding to a question, the source added: "Robert Azibaola has not refunded the $40million or a part of it. He has been relocated from Lagos
to Abuja in readiness for his arraignment in court.
He has behaved well in detention.
The EFCC arrested Azibaola's on March 23 – in line with the ongoing probe of 300 companies involved in phantom contracts by ONSA.
But counsel to the suspect, Gordy Uche (SAN) in a statement in Abuja accused the Commission of embarking on a vendetta mission against former
President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said the Federal Government was still owing his client $4million, being balance of the contract sum for "successfully securing oil pipelines which saw Nigeria reap billions of US dollars from increased oil production".
He asked the commission to "either charge my clients to court or release them on bail". Uche said: "My client (Roberts) is being persecuted
and punished because of his DNA, as a relative of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
"My client is innocent until proven guilty, according to the laws of Nigeria. So, his continuous detention is a breach of his fundamental human rights as a free citizen of Nigeria.
The appropriate thing for the EFCC to do in this circumstance is to release him now or charge him to court."

"There has been a settlement reached to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, the terms of which are confidential," Danny Abir, attorney for landlord Gholamreza Rezai tells PEOPLE.

Denrele was a guest on an NTA programme, where he talked about the
picture of Charly Boy kissing him.
Though he has since debunked the gay rumour, Denrele said, the picture emanated following a movie they were shooting about two different generations with similarities.
According to him, while, they were posing for shots like father and son, after the day's activities, Charly Boy planted a quick kiss on his lips.
"We were shooting a film of two different generations with similarities. Later that evening, we were posing for shots like father and son. Jokingly, he planted a kiss on my lips and that was it. Before, we knew what was happening, the picture was everywhere," he added.
Recall that a photo of Charly Boy kissing Denrele went viral years ago, causing many fans to raise eyebrows at the suspicious act.
Since then, fans have not stopped accusing Denrele as being gay.
Charly Boy once explained that the picture was leaked with Denrele's consent. The major motive was to publicize the video before gay
allegations trailed both parties.
